The Program

About the Team

"I never imagined those 57 fresh faces at our first practice would become the girls I'll always know as our first team."

Birmingham United field hockey is the top of a pathway that starts in the youth program and ends in a varsity letter, all under one coaching staff and one set of standards.

We field both JV and varsity teams with players from Seaholm and Groves. New players are welcome, competitors are pushed, and every player is part of something this city has never had until now.

Celebration

End-of-Season Banquet

Our first season closed with an End-of-Season Banquet on October 19, 2025, at Birmingham Country Club. 125 players, families, and coaches celebrated together under a black and gold balloon arch.

The night brought dinner, JV and Varsity recognition, our Scholar Athletes, and a heartfelt senior send-off, where a teammate spoke about each senior before presenting her gift. The coaches shared their reflections on the season, and the evening closed with desserts and photos. Families told us it was the most organized and memorable high school sports banquet they had been to.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does my player need experience?
No. New players are welcome, and field hockey is a no-cut program, so every registered player has a spot.
When does the season start?
High school practice begins Wednesday, August 12, 2026. Summer captain's practices run Tuesdays, 6:30–8:00 PM, at Seaholm through late July.
Is there a JV team?
Yes. We field both Varsity and JV this year.
How do we join?
Any Seaholm or Groves student can play, it is a no-cut program. To join, register through the district on FinalForms: complete the athletic forms, upload a valid physical, and pay the pay-to-participate fee. Once registered, players are added to our TeamSnap. What does it cost?
Booster Club dues are $350 for 2026. Separately, the district charges a pay-to-participate fee (paid through FinalForms), and summer play requires a USA Field Hockey membership. See the Booster Club and Join pages.
What do we buy?
A stick, shinguards, and a mouthguard. Players also order pinnies, skirts, and socks through the team store, which reopens during the season for a second round of orders. See Uniforms & Gear.
Where are games?
Home games are at Seaholm High School. Away game locations are posted on TeamSnap.
Who do I contact?
